How It Works
Second Hand Guns is a classifieds platform for buying and selling firearms in Australia. We connect buyers and sellers, but we don't handle any transactions ourselves. All firearm sales must go through a licensed dealer, as required by Australian law.
Whether you're looking to sell a firearm or find your next one, here's how it works.
For Sellers
- Create an account. You'll need to provide your name, contact details, and firearms licence information. This takes about two minutes.
- List your firearm. Add your firearm's details, serial number, photos, and your asking price. Each listing is for one item only.
- Wait for approval. We review listings before they go live to keep the platform safe and genuine.
- Respond to enquiries. Interested buyers will contact you directly via your listed email or phone number.
- Complete the sale through a dealer. Once you've agreed on a sale, the transfer must happen through a licensed firearms dealer. The buyer arranges this with their local dealer.
For Buyers
- Browse listings. You can search and view all listings without an account.
- Create an account. To contact a seller, you'll need to sign up with your name, contact details, and firearms licence information.
- Contact the seller. Reach out via the email or phone number on the listing to ask questions or make an offer.
- Arrange the transfer through your dealer. Once you've agreed on a sale, contact your local licensed firearms dealer to arrange the transfer. The dealer will handle the legal paperwork and ensure everything complies with your state's requirements.
Good to Know
Second Hand Guns is currently in early access, so listing your firearms is free. Once we're out of early access, we'll introduce a small listing fee. If you'd like to support the platform in the meantime, you can make a voluntary donation.
